In Feasting on God’s Word we have been focusing on the idea that God’s Word is our sole source of spiritual nourishment– the living water and the bread of life– and our connection to that source is what feeds us. It is what will spiritually sustain us so that we do not spiritually starve.
Our desire when we wrote Feasting on God’s Word is not that we would just have a surface level understanding of the importance of God’s Word but a firm knowledge of how God’s Word sustains us spiritually.
God gives us a stark picture of the reality of a life nourished outside the Word of God when he tells the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 2:13;
“My people…have abandoned Me, the spring of living waters; And instead, they have settled for dead and stagnant water from cracked, leaky cisterns of their own making” (Voice Translation)
In this episode of The Flourish Podcast titled Soul Food, I give you some food for thought into this topic (no pun intended!):
- What three things do we need to “starve” so that we can lead spiritually nourished lives?
- What should we feed so that our lives will flourish?
- How do we feed that which we want to grow in our lives?
